Today Luca turns one! And as I did with her big brother, I choose today to post the photos of her birth…

In contrast to Brit & Nina’s first birth experience at a birth center, they chose to give birth at home. When I arrived, there were the same midwives from Roman’s birth, along with Brit’s mom and Nina’s best friend… and they were all watching “Moonlight.” It was quite chill.

But as things started to progress, they assumed their respective positions, with Nina as Mother Earth unfolding in early spring (i literally have no other way that i can think to describe her… it’s truly a beautiful thing to witness), and Brit as the loving, supportive guardian and protector of the one she loves most. I’ve been to several births, but with Brit and Nina there is a lot unspoken between them, and it makes for the most peaceful and love-filled experience. I feel very lucky to have witnessed so many children entering this world, and feel extra lucky to have now seen two children enter this world under the strong guidance and love of these two.

Luca! You are loved! On the day you were born, you gave us the sweetest, softest little meow… and now you are one years old and a little itty bitty force of adventure and fun! Thank you for being here!
