This family shoot is almost exactly opposite from the last shoot that I posted… we’re trading the dark winter days of the Pacific Northwest for sunny summer days of Southern California, and the new days of parenthood for a family seasoned with decades of loving each other. This family was an absolute joy to photograph (as you can see), but I now have a newly renewed admiration for grandparents since Hachi has been born and I’ve been witness to the way they love their children & their children’s children. I know there are all sorts of jokes about “if mom says no, come to grandma,” or “i can enjoy them now that i can give them back;” which may be true to a certain extent but to me it feels so much more than that, with the sheer pride you see in their eyes and the unconditional love you see in their snuggles. This is their legacy… this is the realization of all of their love and all of their hard work, in their own children and in the form of little humans full of equal parts hope and distant memories.

So here’s to family, and especially to the wonderful parents out there who from the day their children are born all the way until they are adults, sneak in as many snuggles, kisses, and quick glances of adoration, and would do almost anything in this world to see their children smile. We love you.
