casanova family photos // seattle, washington

Hachi was less than six months old when I photographed this beautiful family, so I was very much in the early stages of going back to work. You might be surprised to know that on some days I still get nervous to photograph people, and this was certainly one of those days. Michael dropped me off and picked me up so that he could hang out with Hachi within close proximity, because I had yet to figure out what to actually do if she needed to eat and I wasn’t there. Those were the sweetest months, but running a small business with a small baby was completely new territory for me… thankfully, this family was so welcoming when I showed up and they even asked to meet Hachi before I sent her on her way with a million kisses, for two whole hours without me. I imagine that I must’ve looked so lovelorn and a little lost, but I feel that I couldn’t have asked for a better family to transition back into working with.

And as you can see, they had just gone through much of the same! Rocco was really not that much older than Hachi, and I could feel that same attachment that had both moms constantly reaching for him and gazing at each other in disbelief at the little wild wonder that they had created together. It was a lovely way for me to have a small glimpse into my very near future… and even in the midst of their big house, I could feel how love filled their home.

So fast forward a few years… now I’ve got it “all figured out” and I won’t bring Hachi to work unless you ask me to. :)
